Understatement

Today, as we celebrate Mother's day in the midst of pandemic, I would like to emphasize those mothers who work as frontliners.

In these trying times of health crisis, the hardest part in being a health worker is being a mother. Because choosing to be a mother to your children and staying home with your family to be safe is a total act of selfishness and it is against our oath to our profession.

So We sacrifice not being with our families. We sacrifice not being able to hug and kiss our kids because we want them to be safe from us (because who knows if we carry with us the virus knowing that we are exposed to it everyday). We sacrifice our happiness for humanity.

And for some who think that it is such an overstatement to call frontliners as heroes (since it is our job after all and we are paid to do this). Actually, even if it is our job and we are paid to do this, we actually have the right to file for our  leave of absence or we could just resign and leave our work and apply for a new job after this pandemic if we want to, but WE DON'T DO THAT.
Our conscience just can't allow us to do that.
We still go to work, turn a blind eye to our constant exposures, sacrifice our happiness, sacrifice our health,  all for the sake of our DUTY.
The reason why we DON'T call it a JOB... WE CALL IT "DUTY" because we have a responsibility to humanity.
A responsibility to Life itself.
There goes the difference between work and duty.

We did not ask to be called heroes by the world...
But we wanted our kids to know exactly how important life is.
We want our kids to grow up knowing exactly what RESPONSIBILITY means.
And someday they will understand the sacrifices we made.

After all...
Motherhood is not just a job...
It is a Duty...
A Responsibility for the rest of our lives.

Happy Mother's day!

P.s. Happy Mother's day to my mom, though she's not really a frontliner... She taught me the true meaning of Responsibility and how it differentiates Work from Duty.
